Your library is a "build your own" when it comes to tabs. They have note-for-note breaks of some of the best players around. If you want strictly tab books, check out Acutab. Jack Hatfield makes good instructional books with tab. I learned from Pete Wernicks book "Bluegrass Banjo" There are a lot out now. Thats being said, you can learn strictly from books/DVDS/youtube. There are many nuances and banjo specific techniques that as a guitar player, you dont automatically know. A good teacher is invaluable in learning. anybody got any ideas?Īs a guitar player who about 10 years ago picked up the banjo and also thought I could just learn tabs and become a great picker, ive found that throwing money at tab books is a waste of perfectly good money. im looking for an all inclusive book of bluegrass banjo tablature for the competant picker, that includes all the classic tunes from the past century. i can pick up the fingerings and rolls pretty quick, but dont know any songs. As a guitar player who recently picked up the banjo, ive found that being taught by somebody is a perfectly good waste of money.
